Precision Service & Pumps Inc currently has an exciting role for an enthusiastic General Field Labourer to join our team based out of Abbotsford, BC. About 50% of the time this role will require you to work away from home for several days at a time throughout BC and the Yukon.  

As our new General Field Labourer, you will support a Lead Hand while spending most of your time in the field working at different installations to install and maintain water, wastewater systems, and de-watering systems. Your vital work will help provide communities with clean drinking water, keep sewage out of lakes and rivers, and provide essential flood relief. 

Some of your key responsibilities in this role will include:

  • Assisting the Lead Hand to troubleshoot, repair, and install groundwater and wastewater pumping and distribution equipment which includes valves, controls, and power supply. 
  • Mobilizing at the shop to ensure the required equipment is loaded to perform a quality job to the customers' specifications in a timely and accurate manner before demobilizing after the job is complete. 
  • Ensuring the accurate and timely recording of all information including work orders, well tests, daily journal, and pump sets. 
  • Ensuring trucks and equipment meet all legal requirements for travel and indicating any non-conformance to management. 
  • Recommending and implementing productivity improvement and cost reduction initiatives to assist in market competitiveness including recommendations for policy and process changes. 
  • Ensuring a positive working environment for all staff and following overall company policies, procedures, goals, and objectives. 
  • Following and ensuring compliance with workplace operating and environmental, health, and safety procedures and guidelines. 

More About You

In order to qualify for this role, you'll need a valid Class 5 Driver's License along with the ability to drive manual transmission while towing a large trailer or while driving a 5-tonne truck with a crane. You'll also have excellent customer service skills, a can-do attitude, and a real passion for working outside and on the road. 

As our ideal candidate for this role, you will have excellent communication skills in both written and verbal form. Your mature approach to life will combine with your assertiveness to put our customers at ease and assure them that you can solve any problems they may be facing. Your technical knowledge along with your own judgement, organizational, and analytical skills will allow you to proactively handle any issues that might arise while on the job.
